Patience Yields Eternal Reward
Sometimes we forget that ministry comes with deep costs. Sometimes it costs financially, but more often the costs come in a different form. For one woman, whom we will call Anna, neither shame nor ostracization were her costs. Instead, she found her greatest expenditure to be patience. Anna’s profession of faith came with an aspiration: to see her mother also make that same commitment. The invitations to church were circumvented by indifference, while presentations of the gospel were met with apathy. That was until several years later when the Lord finally convinced Anna’s mom to attend. She came once and then twice. That second time, the preaching struck her heart resulting in her making a bold commitment to Christ.
For Anna her ministry to her mother cost a few years but resulted in an eternal payoff. Such is the beauty of God’s work through us when we labor for the Lord.
