INVESTING IN ADVANCEMENT

Abiding and abounding fruit is the goal of Biblical Ministries Worldwide (Jn.15:16; Phil.4:17). Part of our Core Values states:

We seek to engage in active, daily evangelism
through establishing redemptive relationships.

These core values spring from our strongly held Biblical convictions.

We believe that BMW has a significant role to play in the coming decades of Biblical missions if the Lord tarries. For us to fulfill that role we need to continue to expand our ability to serve a growing missionary team. In 2007 we accepted 28 new missionaries into the mission for work in countries from Denmark in Europe to Vanuatu in the South Pacific and into the Middle East. Continuation of this growth over the next several years should see our missionary team swell to over 500 by 2010. This is exciting, but it brings its own challenges.

Would you like to participate in this exciting advance into new countries through planned giving? If so, we invite you to contact the BMW Advancement Department to discover how you can help bring the Gospel to parts of the earth where there is little or no opportunity for people to hear of the Savior. There are several ways that you can participate. Bequests offer one way to help, but some people want to see the benefit of their contribution in their own lifetime. There are a number of different planned giving options available to allow the satisfaction of mission participation and preservation of your estate. There are also giving choices that maximize tax efficient gifts to the mission.

BEQUESTS

Some people have left significant gifts in support of Biblical Ministries Worldwide through their wills. A bequest may provide for a specific dollar gift, a percentage of your estate, or specific assets to be given to BMW. A bequest may also consist of the remaining assets of your estate. Bequests are generally made through a will or trust agreement. Bequests can also be made by ownership, payable on death, or beneficiary designation. Below is an example of how such a bequest might read:

I give, devise, and bequeath to Biblical Ministries Worldwide, Lawrenceville, Georgia one or more of the following:
  • the sum of $ _______________
  • _______% of my estate
  • the following property _______________________________
  • the rest, residue and remainder of my estate.

The property comprising this gift is to be used to further the mission purposes of Biblical Ministries Worldwide.

PLANNED GIVING OPTIONS

There are a number of modes of planned giving which allow you to see the benefit to the mission and on the field, while caring for your own income needs. There are also tax efficient methods to leave assets to your estate and also further the work of Biblical Ministries Worldwide. If you would like to speak with someone about the possible gift planning tools that can accomplish these goals, please contact Dave Rozelle at BMW.

GIVING CHOICES

Assets can pass to the mission outside of wills. It is possible to include the mission in your IRA beneficiary designation forms, life insurance beneficiary designations, annuity beneficiary designations and joint ownership of property, to name a few.

You might like to use your IRA designation form to make a specific bequest to BMW. It's easy to do, does not require a will codicil, and in the case of a taxable estate, this would help to lower estate values by making it a charitable gift.

The gift of appreciated property, especially stock that has appreciated in value is another very efficient choice. The Mission gets the full value and the donor does not have to pay capital gains on the sale of the stock. This can also work for real estate or other tangible assets.

TREASURE AND YOUR TREASURES

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth…For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19 - 21 - the practical implications of this familiar text in Matthew are far-reaching.

  1. First, if you pass away without a will, then the state decides how your estate is apportioned. In all likelihood the state will not make the choices about distribution that you would willingly endorse.
  2. Second, even with a will there are various residue which may not be included in the disposition of the will, i.e. IRAs, insurance disbursements, etc.
  3. Third, unless it is specifically stated, your desire to further the cause of world missions will not be accomplished by your estate. One very good way to send your treasure on to heaven is to include the work of BMW in your estate planning in some form. Please consider including BMW in your will or as a recipient of some of your planned giving.

If you have questions regarding your will or would like suggestions for preparing your estate planning documents with your professional advisor or attorney, please contact Dave Rozelle at drozelle@biblicalministries.org or (770) 339-3500.
