 ADVANCE
CENTER
The Advance Center, Training and Resources
is a new ministry/work center where we (the Philbricks) combine
part time "tent making", where we have a job, and full
time ministry. Opened officially in the fall of 2005, the Advance
Center is a 1000 square foot store front with a lounge/reception
area, a classroom, and a bit of office and storage space. It has
been run and staffed only by our family, mainly Dave. This spring
the Portugal family, new teammates, arrived with our mission to
become a part of this. The center houses our English teaching (one
of the main evangelism tools) and Ebenezer Editions, a small Christian
publisher, and a valuable tool for outreach through evangelistic
resources and events.
The Advance Center is a key tool in our purpose of establishing
reproducing churches and training leaders through:
- Offering
English classes, which are in great demand and give many opportunities
for witnessing
- Providing
a family friendly center with activities/resources for evangelism/Christian
growth
- Being a visible
Christian presence in Sant Cugat
- Providing
a central place to better focus on our city
- Offering
work visas, since it's increasingly difficult to get into Europe
with a missionary visa
- Having the
flexibility of adding any type of new activity
It also provides
office space for Dave for studying, visits and counseling, a place
for church fellowship activities, our cell group, and is a central
place for our kids to meet friends, do homework and group projects,
or just hang out.
NEEDS
& OPPORTUNITIES
Right now we
could use personnel in the following areas. These activities could
be your way of fitting into the Sant Cugat society as part of the
church planting effort:
- English teachers:
(teaching as second language-actual teaching degree not necessarily
required);
- Other language
teachers
- Translators
- Professionals
in publishing, editing, graphic arts design, advertising, web
designing, accounting and administration
These activities
could be part time, summer work, one or two year terms, or full
time and long term.
