We
have
served the Lord as church planters in Europe since 1987. While
living in Vienna we were involved with the International Chapel
of Vienna, as well as The Eastern European Bible Institute.
In 1992, we traveled for the first time to the country of
Croatia. For the next three years we became more involved
and moved to the city of Sisak, Croatia. Through our involvement
with local believers we were able to assist in re-building
a church. It had been closed during the war that raged from
1991 to 1995. Then God allowed us to be instrumental in the
starting of two new churches in this area of Croatia. God
closed the door to our ministry there in 2005.
Over
the Rainbow...
Yes, God used a rainbow
to lead us to our new ministry. It was a Saturday afternoon
in late May and we had been driving around East Anglia for
hours looking at possible ministry locations. The village
of Littleport was next on our list. We drove up in front of
the church, got out and went to the door; no one could be
found. There was no contact information but we decided to
look around anyway. When we peered through the fence, our
hearts jumped within us, for we saw a brick wall on which
a mural had been painted with a rainbow as the focus. God
impressed us right then that He was going to do something
very special.
Can
you imagine a church full of kids coming out on a Friday evening
for fun activities and to learn about the gospel? Well, this
is exactly what is happening at the Littleport Evangelical
Church every Friday as the kids come to "Tree House Club".
We
are excited that God has called us to this new ministry where
the people already have a vision. We can assist them, providing
leadership, teaching, and practical helps.
The
Littleport Evangelical Church
In
England there are hundreds of Bible-believing, Bible-teaching
churches without pastors. We were led to just such a church.
We are
excited about our new ministry of coming alongside a small
existing congregation. With God's help, we will lead them
in evangelism, discipleship and leadership training. The ultimate
goal is to see the Littleport Evangelical Church restored
to its former position as a gospel lighthouse, having its
own national pastor.
Creative
Evangelism
We have used a number of different means to reach people over
the years with the gospel. We are excited to be a part of
an evangelistic children's ministry, "The Tree House
Club," that has many kids coming out every Friday night.
There is a vision to see the church grow through the children's
ministry. Our outreach is characterized in the following statement:
"Reaching
people by building relationships
through which one earns the right to share the gospel of Jesus
Christ"
Our
purpose:
"Whom
we preach (evangelization),
warning everyman (exhortation),
and teaching everyman (discipleship)
in all wisdom,
that we might present everyman
perfect in Christ Jesus."
Colossians. 1:28
