A WORLD OF OPTIONS!
Where is BMW working, and how might you fit into the picture? "Needs & Opps" gives you some brief sketches from recent prayer letters reflecting the needs of various people groups where BMW's personnel are working.
Many Christians are interested in short-term trips these days, some have the ability to help our churches while working in a secular vocation (tentmakers), and some feel the Lord wants them to make their ministry avocation into a vocation.
FITTING WITH THE TIMES
Be careful about getting your burden for a mission field by reading missionary stories from 100 years ago. The world of missions has changed profoundly over the past 30 years, and the 21st Century is placing different demands on missionaries in the new millennium.
According to some studies, the highest number of born-again Christians, per capita, is in Africa, and the lowest is in Europe. The Church seems to be growing the fastest in China and other parts of Asia, while it is shrinking the fastest in traditionally "Christian" places like England and Scotland.
FITTING WITH THE CULTURE
Biblical Ministries Worldwide has helped churches send their best people into ministry around the world. God's servants should go where God has called and equipped them to serve. While we cannot tell you where God has called you, we can help you and your church's leaders understand where your gifts and abilities lie, how you might adjust to certain cultures, how your children might adapt, and whether you have a foreign language aptitude.
FITTING WITH THE TEAM
Not only is every mission organization different, each team out there on the field is different. There are varying philosophies of ministry, leadership, evangelism, education, etc. One of the most important things BMW's administration does during Candidate Orientation is give you an idea for the flavor of the various church-planting teams and where you might best fit.
